Benjamin Plumb Memorial Graduate Scholarship

Dr. Benjamin Plumb (BASc ’10 and PhD ’17, Civil Engineering) journeyed through life with a zest for adventure that left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Ben’s interests spanned a wide spectrum – from, of course, all things rivers, kayaking, puppies, mountain biking and F1 racing, to experimenting with drones and 3D printing. His deep connection to the natural world, especially rivers, led him to pursue education in engineering and later join GeoProcess Research Associates, where he contributed to solving complex challenges in geomorphology, water resources engineering, and ecosystem restoration.

The Benjamin Plumb Memorial Graduate Scholarship, supported by a gift from GeoProcess Research Associates and contributions from Ben’s family, friends, and colleagues, celebrates his legacy and professional achievements. The scholarship will support and inspire graduate students in Civil Engineering who are undertaking fieldwork in river mechanics and river rehabilitation.

Ben is remembered as a loving husband, devoted son, and treasured friend and colleague. Through his infectious enthusiasm and irrepressible spirit, Ben left an indelible imprint on those who had the privilege of knowing him. In memory of Ben, and to honour his legacy of joy, passion, and boundless curiosity, we invite you to make a donation in support of the Benjamin Plumb Memorial Graduate Scholarship.
