We live at a time of contradictory messages about how successfully we understand gravity. General Relativity seems to work superbly well in the Earth’s immediate neighbourhood, but arguments also abound that it needs modification at very small and/or very large distances. This talk tries to put this discussion into perspective by embedding it into a broader context: how similar situations have played out in other areas of physics. Toronto Trivia night for recent Waterloo Engineering Alumni at Hemingway's on July 17th - hosted by the Recent Engineering Alumni Council (REAC) Join the Waterlo Region Alumni chapter for an evening in waterloo park, featuring FourAll Ice cream and some light activities to bring Alumni and their families together. Hop on the ferry and join Waterloo Alumni on Toronto Island on Saturday, July 20! The Waterloo Warriors Basketball programs invite you to join our student-athletes, alumni and supporters at the 23rd Annual Warriors Basketball Golf Tournament. All are welcome for a great day of fun, golf, and prizes regardless of your skill level. Tournament format will be a 4-player scramble, with the event occurring rain or shine. Appropriate golf attire is required. All proceeds from the event will be shared between the men’s and women’s basketball programs to support non-conference exhibition travel. The Recent Engineering Alumni Council (REAC), School of Architecture and the Faculty of Arts invites alumni to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals on September 13th. Tickets includes a ticket in section 517 and a Blue Jays & University of Waterloo co-branded tumbler. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to reconnect with fellow Engineering and Arts alumni! Alumni who own architecture firms and current architecture co-op employers will be invited to set up tables in a job fair format to advertise co-op opportunities to architecture students. Event will take place over the course of an afternoon at the School of Architecture. Registration should be capped at 25.
