It’s a campaign in support of teaching, learning and research at Waterloo running from May 1 - 21. We’re inviting everyone in our campus community — alumni, friends, students, parents, faculty, staff, retirees and YOU — to be part of it.

Giving Day will take place on Thursday, May 21. Gifts made as early as Friday, May 1 at 12:00 am ET through Monday, May 25 at 11:59 pm ET will count towards campaign totals.

• Give: Your eligible Giving Day gift could be matched dollar for dollar, doubling its impact (while matching funds last)!
• Play: Get your game on and donate your points to your favourite area(s) on campus!
• Share: Tell your friends, family and professional networks about Giving Day.
• Amplify: Post on your social channels, follow UWaterloo’s social channels and re-share our posts.

You can give to the area that’s most meaningful to you. If you don’t find the fund you’re looking for, you can write in a specific fund name by clicking on “OTHER” in the donation form. If you need help, contact annualgiving@uwaterloo.ca or call 1-800-408-8715.

A number of Matching Gift Champions have stepped up to offer gift matches for Giving Day. That means all eligible Giving Day gifts of $20 or more will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to a maximum of $1,000 per gift, while matching funds last. It’s a great way to double (or even triple) the impact of your gift.

Charitable gifts received starting on May 1, 2026 at 12:00am ET will be matched on a first-come, first-serve basis (time-stamped by the donation form) until the available matching dollars run out — or until May 21, 2026 at 11:59pm ET. Gifts must be made through our Giving Day website, and only new gifts will be eligible (payments on an existing pledge and monthly recurring gifts do not qualify). Gifts made via third-party platforms (i.e. Canada Helps, United Way, etc.) are not eligible.

Charitable gifts made to any currently active fund held by the University of Waterloo are eligible, with specific funds eligible for additional matching dollars. Funds held by the affiliated colleges have separate matching criteria – see their “Areas to Support” for more information. Velocity Funds, Sponsorships and Research-related revenue are not eligible for matching funds.

Please note: If the total amount of donation(s) to specific fund does not exceed $100, the gift(s) to the fund will not be eligible to be matched.

We are grateful for every gift to UWaterloo, but only gifts of $10 or more are eligible for a charitable gift receipt, and only eligible gifts of $20 or more can be matched (while gift matches last).

Monthly and other recurring gifts make a significant impact as they provide a steady stream of support for Waterloo all year long. You can give monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or by installments.

Please note recurring gifts are not eligible for matching dollars.

We gratefully accept gifts from the U.S. They must be made online at uwaterloo.ca/giving-day. Your gift will be processed in Canadian dollars, and if you are a Waterloo alum or a family member of a Waterloo alum, your Canadian tax receipt can be used for U.S. income tax purposes.

Eligible gifts made through the Giving Day website will receive an e-tax receipt for the full amount of the gift, not including any matching dollars. The tax receipt will be included in the confirmation email you receive after you make a gift. That email will include a link to download a PDF of your tax receipt. If you do not receive this email within 48 hours, check your junk/spam folder. If you have trouble downloading the PDF, please “Reply” to the email for assistance. To ensure your tax receipt information is correct, do not click the BACK button after submitting your gift, and do not click your personalized email link multiple times if you are making gifts on behalf of other people.
