School of Optometry & Vision Science

Ranked fifth worldwide for research outputs for a school of optometry, we are at the forefront of eye and vision disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

About UWaterloo Optometry

As the only Anglophone optometry program in Canada, we provide extensive state-of-the-art clinical education and training, focusing on exceptional care and experiences across the full range of patient eye, vision and health-care services.

Currently, the School of Optometry and Vision Science aims to establish the Waterloo Eye Institute (WEI) as Canada’s leading optometric eye and vision care centre that will enhance healthcare by creating a state-of-the-art facility for optometric education, research and clinical care, including two frontier research centres and an innovation centre focused on the latest technologies in eye care.
