About UWaterloo Accounting and Finance ​

The School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) excels in delivering innovative programs that integrate accounting and finance education. We educate professionals through learning across disciplines, creating versatile, adaptive, and confident leaders fluent in business, analytics, sustainability and technology. Our co-op program and experiential learning courses integrate practical experience into the curriculum, preparing students to excel in the professional world.

Five students from the School of Accounting and Finance competed in the CFA Institute’s Research Challenge, and after beating out hundreds of teams from all over North and South America, they dominated at the global finals in May and took home the grand prize of $10,000. The team competed against 1,100 schools and 6,700 students from all over the world in six rounds of competition.

The International Study Course offers students a global business experience where they learn from professionals around the world. Past trips have been to Hong Kong, Germany, Singapore and more.

This fund was created in honour of Professor Ranjini Jha's retirement to help students who have demonstrated academic excellence and who are interested in pursuing a career in finance through work experience and/or related activities.

Efrim Boritz has taught at the SAF since 1983 and is head of Assurance and IT at the School. He has served as Executive Director of the University of Waterloo Centre for Information Integrity and Information System Assurance since its inception in 1998. To celebrate his retirement in 2025, Efrim has established an endowed graduate award.
