Advancing Urban Design Education at the School of Planning

The School of Planning Designer in Residence Endowment fund provides students with unique opportunities to learn from practicing professionals, explore innovative approaches, and strengthen the integration of design thinking into the future of planning.

The Endowment was established through the generous seed gift of Karen Bowles Hammond, whose many years of exceptional teaching and service in design have significantly enriched the School of Planning at the Faculty of Environment. In recognition of her lasting contributions as both an educator and benefactor, this endowed fund supports the School’s commitment to advancing excellence in design within planning education.

Now to fully realize this vision, we need to grow the fund. The initial gift provided a foundation; additional support from alumni, industry partners, and friends is essential to sustain and expand the program’s impact for generations to come.

Your gift today will help accelerate this growth and ensure the program’s long-term success, supporting:

Salary and honoraria expenses for the Designer in Residence
Student travel related to seminars, outreach, or educational activities
Student development of posters, papers, and other scholarly outputs
