Among the victims of the Ukrainian International Airlines Flight PS752 crash were Faculty of Environment PhD student Marzieh (Mari) Foroutan and Faculty of Engineering PhD student Mansour Esnaashary Esfahani, Engineering alumnus Mojgan Daneshmand (PhD ’06), her husband Pedram Moussavi (a former Waterloo Engineering postdoctoral fellow) and their two young children, Daria and Dorina, as well as former Waterloo student Dr. Neda Saddighi.

Gifts directed to the Marzieh (Mari) Foroutan Memorial Graduate Scholarship will support international PhD students who wish to study at the Faculty of Environment and walk in Marzieh’s big footsteps in the years to come. The University will match donations for this fund up to a total of $50,000. Thank you for honouring Marzieh’s beautiful life and immense contributions.
