Promoting Hands-on Field Work to Impact Our Planet
Our Earth and Environmental Sciences students aspire to tackle evolving global environmental challenges to shape the future of our vulnerable planet. Through access to a wide variety of field work opportunities and advanced equipment, we position our students to confidently address the intricate complexities of protecting our planet’s water systems, the impacts of climate change, or sourcing resources in sustainable and responsible ways.
“The first field experience our students have in second year influences all courses they take in the future as they get an understanding of field work, and it gives them an entirely different perspective rather than seeing ‘perfect’ samples of rocks and minerals in future courses and laboratories.
“Proper field gear is required for the trip. If they are worried about staying dry the whole time, this negatively impacts their learning opportunities as they cannot focus on their assigned work.”
- Jen Parks, Earth and Environmental Sciences Instructor, Associate Dean for a Diverse, Inclusive and Safe Science
Your Legacy for the Future Begins Today
The Earth 20/20 Endowment Fund was established to ensure our students have meaningful opportunities for hands-on field work and lab-based learning. Your support empowers our students to pursue their geological goals, creating a ripple effect extending throughout the Department and community, as our students apply the skills they learn during their studies to make an impact on our world.
Your gift will:
- Upgrade, modernize and enhance the equipment used for fieldwork and laboratory experiences.
- Support teaching assistants needed to run and facilitate experiential learning in the department.
- Enable our student geologists and environmentalists experience hands-on field trips and field courses.
Together, we can equip the next generation of geoscientists to tackle global environmental challenges
Join us in providing hands-on field experience and access to cutting-edge research opportunities for our students. With your support, they’ll be equipped with the field-based knowledge and skills vital to success in their chosen industry.
