The Faculty of Health is thrilled to announce that the annual Fun Run is officially back! One of the longest-standing traditions at the University of Waterloo, the Fun Run will be held on the morning of University of Waterloo Homecoming this Fall. Homecoming returns to the University of Waterloo campus on Saturday, September 20, 2025! We hope you’ll join us to cheer on the Warriors football team and celebrate a community forged in black and gold. The Warriors Men's Rugby team is hosting a golf tournament to help fundraise for their season on Saturday, Sept 20th, 2025. Join your fellow Earth and Environmental Sciences alumni at UWaterloo for an afternoon of celebration and networking. During this event, we will also be wishing Professor Shaun Frape, a long time member of our department, a fond farewell as he embarks on his latest adventure: retirement! As climate change accelerates and global cooperation is strained, the future of our natural systems, and societies depends on bold, collective action. In this defining moment, Dr. Andrew Steer—renowned economist, climate advisor, and former President & CEO of the Bezos Earth Fund—offers urgent insights into how the world can meet its greatest environmental challenges. From resilient cities to restored ecosystems, Steer will explore what has worked and what hasn’t , how transformative solutions can be scaled—and how leadership across sectors is key. Harmful gender norms are persistent in many countries, despite the efficiency and equity costs they entail. Join Eliana La Ferrera, professor of Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy school as she discusses what factors contribute to this persistence, and how these norms may be eradicated. An alumni event at the Microsoft Canada headquarters with a panel discussion about AI and a networking reception. Celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with a festive alumni potluck in San Jose. Code of Conduct

To create a welcoming and harassment-free experience for everyone at University of Waterloo Office of Advancement events, all event participants, including attendees, speakers, volunteers and staff are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct in addition to venue or platform-specific policies and local laws, regulations and ordinances, remaining mindful of and taking responsibility for their speech and behaviour at all times. The Code of Conduct applies to all aspects of the main event and any related activities, whether digital or in person.

The University of Waterloo Office of Advancement does not tolerate the following:

  • Words or actions that are disruptive, disrespectful or degrading to others, including any messages, images or interactions by anyone, in any form, regardless of event location.
  • Harassment or discrimination based on citizenship, race, place of origin, ethnic origin, colour, ancestry, disability, age, creed, sex/pregnancy, family status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or any other characteristic protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act or applicable local laws, regulations and ordinances. 

We encourage all attendees to:

  • Participate in an authentic and active way.
  • Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions.
  • Attempt collaboration rather than conflict.
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.

We encourage everyone to play an active role in creating a welcoming environment. Please report any concerns, harassing behaviour or disruptive activity to event staff.

The University of Waterloo Office of Advancement, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to remove posts or comments as well as refuse admittance to or remove any person in violation of the Code of Conduct from an event at any time.

Office of Advancement events may be recorded. Images and audio may be broadcast, reproduced and/or made available in print publications, online or on mobile devices, and may form part of one or more audio-visual productions intended for initial release on the internet, television and on home or mobile devices. By registering to attend and attending an Office of Advancement event, you are consenting to the use of your appearance, image and voice in the production and in any promotion or use of the production in any media throughout the world.

Event refunds will be given up to 5 business days prior to the event start date, unless otherwise stated. If you require a refund please contact us at registration@alumni.uwaterloo.ca.
